About

At the Confluence is a place where stories, creativity and humanity meet.

It's the home of my work as a counsellor, coaching practitioner, researcher, writer and willow artist. While those roles may appear quite different, they're all connected by the same curiosity: how we make sense of ourselves, our relationships and the lives we live.

Whether I'm sitting alongside someone in therapy, researching autistic and ADHD identity, writing a Field Note or weaving willow into a handmade piece, I'm interested in the ways stories shape who we are, and how creativity, reflection and connection can help us come home to ourselves.

My approach

My professional background is in Humanistic Counselling and Positive Psychology Coaching, alongside additional qualifications and experience in movement, hypnotherapy and neuro-affirming practice. Over more than seventeen years, I've worked with people navigating grief, change, identity, relationships, burnout and the challenges of living authentically in a world that often asks us to fit into someone else's story.

Much of my current work explores themes of belonging, becoming and narrative identity, particularly in relation to autism, ADHD and later-life self-discovery.

Rather than focusing solely on problems to be solved, I'm interested in understanding the whole person, their strengths, values, relationships, history and hopes for the future.

Lived experience

Alongside my professional training, I came to understand my own identity better, and was diagnosed autistic, ADHD and Dyspraxic later in life.

That experience hasn't made me an expert in anyone else's story, but it has deepened my appreciation of how complex identity can be, how exhausting masking often is, and how powerful it can be to find language that finally feels like home.

It also reminds me to approach every conversation with curiosity, humility and compassion.

Beyond the therapy room

At the Confluence has grown beyond a traditional therapy practice.

Today, my work includes:

  • Counselling, coaching and clinical supervision

  • Research into autistic wellbeing, narrative identity and belonging

  • Writing through Field Notes

  • Talks, workshops and educational projects

  • The Crafty Dragonfly, where I create seasonal willow work and run creative workshops inspired by nature, story and the changing seasons

Although these projects look different on the surface, they all ask similar questions:

Where do I belong?

Who am I becoming?

How do the stories I carry shape the way I live today?

Qualifications and professional interests

My background includes:

  • Humanistic Therapeutic Counselling

  • Positive Psychology Coaching

  • Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy

  • Self-Compassion approaches

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Movement and wellbeing

  • Neuro-affirming practice

  • Psychoeducation for individuals, groups and organisations

  • Research into AuDHD (autistic and ADHD) wellbeing and narrative identity

I remain committed to continual professional development, recognising that our understanding of wellbeing, neurodivergence and human flourishing continues to evolve.

Writing, speaking and collaboration

Alongside my client work, I write and speak about identity, belonging, autism, ADHD, grief, creativity and the stories we tell ourselves.

If you're interested in talks, workshops, collaborations or educational events, I'd love to hear from you.

A note about lived experience

Whenever I write or speak from personal experience, I'm describing my own journey rather than representing every autistic or ADHD person. Our experiences are wonderfully diverse, and I hope my contribution simply adds one thoughtful voice to a much wider conversation.
